In times of uncertainty, crises and security cross boundaries within the framework of conflict and cooperation. Living in a fast-changing and interconnected world in which complex global crises shape human existence requires effective management to maintain a secure and safe future for the nation and the state. Managing crises – be it rapid digital transformation trends, globalisation or environmental emergencies – is indispensable to ensure sustainable development. Complex global and domestic crises make every decision harder to take and require decision-makers, either from the public, private or non-profit sector, to work under greater stress and require a higher quality of formal education, knowledge of more advanced management concepts and methods, and more advanced leadership skills. This Special Issue is dedicated to presenting interdisciplinary theoretical and empirical research embedding management, defence, and security crossing boundaries under the pressure of uncertainty, crises, and conflict. We seek manuscripts that provide local or global perspectives on present-day problems related to the three issues from the perspective of social or technical sciences. Original, novel assumptions and research designs are welcomed. The topics relevant to this Special Issue include, but are not limited to, three main areas: management, defence, and security.
